"Wet"Paintings

The theme of my painting and hanging sculpture series –“WET” is inspired by my passion for the ocean, her moods and her inhabitants.

Twenty six works contribute my “WET” painting series, which are available to view here.

These ambiguous aquatic landscape paintings express my artistic intentions primarily using sheer watery layering and the intensity of monochromatic colour through the medium of acrylic. I explore the nuances and tensions possible on the canvas between the contrasting watery layers and the bleeding borders. The borders of my paintings are influenced by and a tribute to the style of the American abstract expressionist, Mark Rothko.

In “WET” I express the natural chaos of the ocean; its strong currents, storms, rain and fog and the contrasting theme of our calm and spiritual connection with water.
