"Wet" Sculptures

“WET” sculpture series comprises five hanging sculptures. They are ephemeral, illuminated, contemplative and interacting. I enjoy expressing the tension of interrelating group sculptures using paper, cane and metal mesh. Soft, delicate materials, oversized. lit internally, and hanging above; invite the viewer into the sculptural living space, submerged into the fantasy of an underwater cavern.

My sculpture practice is influenced by the modern dynamism of contemporary sculptors, Calder, Bert Flugelman and the late Bronwyn Oliver. Building on these influences I strive for balance, spontaneity, spirituality, honesty and flow from my creative subconscious. “WET” reflects inner calm, joy and the element of surprise through the inherent dramatic tension of individual sculptures oscillating within a hanging group. Simple abstract forms celebrate the sublime beauty of nature.

My intention with “WET” is the converse with, interact with and move the viewer into alignment with the mood of the work.
